Happy Easter everyone! Hope your Good Friday is going well and that you have attended a service of some flavor today!! I didnt post yesterday as I spent the entire day stateside dropping off my law school deposit and looking into housing and all that kind of thing. So I will try and include a little more stuff today.

First of all, the 9-11 Commission. As stated before, I think this is so stupid. Trying to lay blame with one administration or another instead of sticking it to the terrorists is an exercise in folly, pure and simple. This little commission, bi-partisan or not, is nothing more than politcal theatre designed to somehow put all the 9-11 blame in George W. Bush's lap. This is clearly evident given the fact that 9-11 families are routinely appearing on major news networks, all seemingly reading the same speech. Dont get me wrong, I understand that they are in pain and grieving, but someone (Democrats) are cheapening the grieving process by making them Democratic Party shills.

The only funny part of the Commission was Sen. Bob Kerrey mistakenly calling Condi "Dr. Clarke" and then asking what she did about the USS Cole bombing. Very funny stuff indeed.

On a more serious note, the fighting has once again intensified in Iraq and contrary to what the pinko media is reporting, the US military is inflicting heavy losses on the insurgents. What I would really like to see here is perhaps a one to two week period where the politically correct gloves are taken off and the Army and Marines are allowed to conduct some old school maneouvres. You know like in the Deuce, when the Army ran into a stronghold or defensive position, they simply stopped and called in massive artillery and air strikes until the spot was a smoldering rubble. Now before any of you bleeding hearts cry foul, keep in mind that these tactics would and should scare any zealots back into their senses. If I was an insurgent and knew the US Army was going to attack without its hands tied by the media and the Geneva convention, I would wet my pants, and jump the first camel back to Tehran or Damascus or wherever.

Let Rummy run the show and have a no holds barred offensive. If people from your city or village use that town as a base of attack against servicemen or women, said town gets burned to the ground. A 24 period of round the clock artillery and air strikes would make the town a parking lot and make the next village down the road think twice about mounting any resistance. Better yet, the townspeople would think twice before harboring any of these insurgents. Pull up to the outskirts and offer them the choice. Turn out the rebels or kiss your ass good bye. Follow that threat up with a few low level passes by some F-18s and A-10s and dollars to donuts says you will have your hands full of new prisoners.

Pussyfooting around these terrorists just gives them more incentive to carry out attacks. If they knew each attack would be met with a tenfold escalation, hopefully they would be smart enough to realize that their offensive would be doomed. Further emphasize the point by mentioning to Syria, Iran, Chechnya et al, that for every one of their citizens captured or killed in Iraq, repurcussions will steadily heightened. I doubt that any one of them wish to play hardball with the USA.

While this two week vacation from political correctness was on, I would run a parallel diplomatic campaign to remind the world who was in charge. Tell Germany, France and Russia that every incident of them lending aid to or profiting from a relationship with Hussein's Iraq will be exposed. Tell the two bit dictators that populate the UN General Assembly that their free rides have expired and put them on the next cargo flight back home and then send a memo to Arafat that you know where he hides and you just passed that info on to Israeli attack helicopters. Watch the poop hit the fan then. Of course the left wing media and intelligencia will be up in arms in righteous indignation, but let them complain. The calm that follows the shit storm would do wonders to convince these people that they are light years out of touch.

Now, to turn 180 degrees, I just want to wish everyone a happy and safe Easter weekend. Take time to reflect on what this holiday means and to give thanks for what we have and for the peace we enjoy. Keep the servicemen and women of MANY nations currently serving overseas in your hearts and prayers.

I'm out.
